  • 850R production numbers

In the days before Polestar spiced things up a bit, Volvo wasn’t exactly a performance brand. It was mostly known for making sensible and durable luxury

This article says 1000 850R were released in USA.. anyone know how accurate this is.?

I’ve read numerous articles on this topic and everyone has a slightly different number. I’ve seen 1,500 just in 96, another website says 1,200 in 96 and less for 97. Then there is the discrepancy of wagon vs sedan and numbers produced....would love to have a solid number like the marti report for mustangs except Volvo 🇸🇪

We have a red sedan and a black sedan as well as a wagon for parts... pretty rare to have all in one yard

Volvo won't release those old numbers. That's straight from a volvo engineers mouth to my ear a few years back. Idk but just sayin.

Imagine how many are long gone. Probably half of those that were imported if not more.

Easily half, very sad to think about. Very very rarely if I see another R on the road it’s usually beat beyond repair. Sad how many people don’t know how special these cars are.

its gotten rare to see any 850's on the road here in NJ.
the last four years have seen them dwindle like the white rhino.
The local Volvo/Saab mechanic now is a Subaru mechanic. there are
few sighted on Clist. I wish I could stomach facebook since it seems for sale
has migrated over there. even mine is unregistered and I'm contemplating dropping the insurance
until I can work on it which is usually never. I must say that its the only car out there sitting that
doesn't have any mice in the interior. must be very tight. the traffic has fallen to 10% on Volvo sites.
I feel like a dinosaur but there is lots of archived info untill the hosts go under.

I recently purchased a 95 850 T-5R wagon, the ultra rare one, and hAve the world production numbers for that model but not for the 850R. Again, for some reason, volvo won't, or no longer can, provide those numbers. Probably has something to do with the Chinese owners of volvo. IDK
