Could be a tiny boost leak somewhere in the charge system. Double check all hose clamps

Completed the turbo 18t with rip kit and Bilstein B4 install this week. I need to send the unit in to get flashed to Stage 3. Also installed big brakes on front. Couldnt find the lowered IPD springs for my year (Gen 1). I forgot about the poly sub frame mounts but did change the end rods. Suspension could be a bit tighter, maybe its the springs, but feels like swaybar; maybe need a stress bar too. Also looks a bit higher off the ground in front. Whats weird is that I get a whistling sound when I accelerate. I couldnt find a lose hose or fitting. Rip kit or turbo? Still learning.

I think the 98 r’s came with the 16t, I was only referring to my 850’s 15g. For other mods i would recommend the snaab intake pipe and ipd short ram intake, not a huge power boost but sounds so good and spools up the turbo quicker. A good stage 0 tune up will do wonders as well. I recently installed the Bilstein b4 gas touring shocks with ipd lowering springs. Absolutely incredible combo! Also had ipd sway bars, hd sway bar end links and poly sub frame mounts installed. Love how everything came together and ride is still comfortable not to harsh or bouncy but handles on rails

I have a 98' V70R saffron since new, still looks new. I'm looking to spruce it up a bit after it survived to boys and me. I'm a bit confused on one of the comments, I thought it came with a 16t. I was curious if I could replace it, or the parts to an 18t or something with a bit more power. The day after I bought it, I had installed the IPD chip and dual exhaust. Any other recommendations? Also looking to change to the Bilstein HD shocks. Any recommendations, like changing springs?

Obviously, a rebuild kits has a few more parts but not many.

The bonus here is the kits are less than $100 with a full cartridge about $400

Well I appreciate your confidence in my mechanical abilities! If it’s as easy as you say I may give it a crack someday. I have been wanting to upgrade to a bigger turbo, or maybe a 16t compressor wheel

There isn't anything all rocket sciencey about a turbo or rebuilding a turbo. Not all that many parts either. Judging from your posts, I'm pretty sure you could handle it.

Depends on where you are located, I had Turbo Technology in Tacoma Wa rebuild my 15g. I didn’t trust myself to do the work myself and not loose a gasket or screw or something. Money well spent

If you're REASONABLY mechanically inclined, can find the correct info, and have the time and space, almost any auto repair is doable at home.
    best advice,
    TAKE LOTS OF PICS
BREAK THE JOB DOWN TO SEVERAL STEPS
    HAVE THE PROPER TOOLS
A CLEAN CAR (engine compartment) MAKES IT FAR EASIER TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH YOUR CAR AND FAR EASIER TO TAKE APART AS WELL AS PUT BACK TOGETHER

It's not difficult to do. You can purchase a rebuild kit or a cartridge, tear it down, CLEANLINESS IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE, have it balanced, reinstall
