99 V70 Key Replacement

Hey ya'll, in my infinite wisdom I accidentally lost the key for my 99 V70 GLT. Coworker of mine said that year gets expensive to replace because the key has a little chip inside of it, and the key itself is laser cut. Do any of ya'll have an idea of what a replacement would cost? Is it only a dealership thing?

Sorry to hear about your key loss, about 6 months ago I ordered 2 keys for my 850 from the local Volvo dealership..even at wholesale they were NOT cheap, so I can only imagine what a newer chipped one would cost. My advice is to make friends with an employee at a Volvo dealership so that may soften the blow alittle.
