Good afternoon all, I have a 1998 volvo v70xc that has had a reverse gear that's been slipping for the past 10 years i just had to put it in the shop a few days ago to have the transmission completely rebuilt.because the forward gears started slipping. i am thinking about putting a stand alone transmission cooler on it. is this a good idea for longevity? i know they can be expensive though.Last edited by Fitz554; 05-02-2020, 02:08 PM.

If you're getting a fresh start on that transmission I don't see why not! I have my 99 V70 GLT in the shop right now for basically the same thing...I'm looking at either a rebuild or full replacement. Lots of slipping in first gear and no communication with the TCM. I hope this solves your troubles!

Bought my 1999 V70R from a friend (well yesterday) and trailered it down from Lexington Kentucky to Asheville North Carolina. Needs some TLC, but I already love it. Put a new battery in and ordered some stage 0 stuff. Cannot seem to get the images uploaded. Here is a link: https://imgur.com/a/Jq2Y3mJ

Not so much today but over the course of all this quarantine stuff I finally got Around to changing my dash around a bit. I apologize for the crappy picture but my 99’ V70 Base model came with the usual plastic with a few lucky picks at the local pick and pull and this is the result. A Base model with some “trick” options, including my trick headliner 🙄👎🏼 Also, headrests removed for better airflow to the back. Vegas heat is no joke.

fri2k11 All you’re seeing is a generic “X” size screen face plate. As far as I’ve found no such mounting kit unfortunately. What I have done is take a hand file to the original head unit rails (car side) a little on each side until the new head unit fit REAL snug in the middle of the rails “floating”. Being held in by friction it needs to be a tight fit. Then I trimmed the generic face plate which came like 2 inches to big on each side. I trimmed it so I it recessed snug into the factory spot. Take your time and I’m have no issues. Feel free to use a piece of foam or some sort of spacer underneath the headunit it you’re worried about a loose fit on the sides. The faceplate will keep it centered.

Went to the junkyard and got a replacement rear view mirror and found some child seat anchors. Mine didn't come with them, and I have four kiddos. I plan getting a third row seat when I can find one at the junkyard too so I can fit them all.

I recently got a third row seat on eBay and was able to put it in this weekend. The seats don't match mine, but I transferred them and their hardware to my existing floor boards so I could keep my carpet. Ignore the messy garage in the background, ha ha!1 Photo

Changed out the oil pan o-rings, removed the headliner to repair sagging cloth, changed the oil / filter, put new spark plugs in, changed fuel filter, changed fuel injector o-rings, changed headlight wipers, and took off front bumper to make some repairs.
