  • 245 dash repair in Tasmania

Hi there, I am contemplating restoring the dash pad on my 245 which is seriously cracked. is a new dash pad 1/ wise to remove and 2/ easy to obtain? Alternative is to repair the cracks in place or cover with a mat. Any ideas welcomed.

    G'day fellow Taswegian,

Removing the dash pad isn't a difficult job, just a tedious one. There are a lot of Philips screws to remove.

I've had my 140 dashboards repaired by Dashboard Recovering Services up in Sydney before I moved here to Tassie. Ian Gray does an excellent job for a very reasonable price - he used to do the dashboards for a lot of LHD to RHD conversions back in the day. The dash tops he's done for me look like brand new, factory finish.

You can see the work for yourself (these pics are a LOT bigger than expected, but at least you get to see the before and after detail)
